what?

A digital rummage bin for all the story fragments that I jot down and then never do anything with. (You could call them microfictions if you're fancy, but the truth is that I just can't be damned to do anything with them.)

A lot of them are original, but a number are fannish - mostly FFXIV. As a heads-up, only the latest expac's spoilers will be kept behind a CW - that means only Endwalker spoilers will be hidden right now! I will be tagging with #ffxiv and the relevant expac name, for whenever Cohost implements tag filtering.

when?

Updates whenever I feel like it. That could mean five updates within the span of an hour and then absolute silence for the rest of the year. It just is That Way.

"All my life, I was adored when I was perfect and scorned when I struggled. And all my life, all I wanted was someone who would comfort me when things went wrong. Someone who would love me no matter how imperfect I was.

"But I never had that. I will never have that. And now all of you have the gall to expect me to be that for you. You, strangers, nobodies for whom I've already given everything. Given everything, and received nothing!"

In a swift movement, they unsheathed their sword, and threw it onto the cobblestones at their feet. It came to rest with a mournful clatter. The crowd flinched back.

"If this is what it means to be a hero, then maybe I'll be a villain instead."

"...And your idea of villainy was leaving everything behind to start a new life on the other side of the world?"

"Well... yes. They needed me, and I left them." They stared into their cup. "Isn't it cruel to turn your back on people in need?"

There were so many things ze wanted to say in response to that. So many things. Instead, ze poured them another cup of tea.
