i'm slowly depopulating my twitter lists.
never really read through most of them tbh, but one or two comprised a bunch of events & orgs i do genuinely want to follow – i've spent a good hour this evening just tracking down their newsletters, so's i can delete the lists.
my one tiny-violin gripe? several newsletters don't seem to send confirmations when you sign up. am i abonné? i'll find out in a month, if i remember!
I did the same last week! I made a directory with simplelogin, signed up to a bunch, and then deleted the lists. interested to see what comes!
had to look up simplelogin, but yeah, i have several (probably too many) email addresses & one of them is dedicated to mailing lists, newsletters, & most things that aren't attached to my actual identity. hoping we can take back comms from twitter/FB, the way i'm taking back reading from amazon & going back to the libraries.
Yeah! I hope more people start using the lists they're building. It's genuinely a nice way to get updates because it gives people the space to write more than a sentence. I've basically told every indie I know to use ghost cms as their blog because it gives you newsletters built in!
hahaha! well. it does also let you set the posts to be entirely private so they would only go out as newsletters.
