ok but i somehow wrangled putty into rendering the ANSI characters correctly by setting the "Remote Character Set" option
but weirdly enough setting it to ISO-8859 did Not work but setting it to CP437 Did
all because my package manager doesn't offer the better ones :(
omg yes im glad it's possible!! i'm looking into ways of getting more common terminals to display my board better so it's nice to know putty is possible
