hello (at) nickyflowers.com

i got a reeeaaaal cheap flatbed scanner that um, well it turns out can't really scan 35mm film. i thought it would but it doesn't. and even polaroid/instax film is hit or miss due to the shiny surface of the exposures, causing Newton's Rings. but i've decided they're part of the ~aesthetic~ and uhhhh it's fine. it's better than "scanning" them with my phone

here's a selfie i took today

in reply to @nicky's post:

fun fact the newton rings is caused by the two surfaces meeting and bending light in a weird way where they touch. so if you suspend the polaroid just over the surface using something thin like popsicle sticks or something, they wont show up. i dont really mind them either though

ah! good to know, i'll try that. from what i gathered from searching online, it gets out of focus real quick with this machine if the thing isnt directly on the glass. maybe there's a sweet spot in between though
