i don't work well with strict deadlines and quotas. i started this month excited at the prospect of having a completed first draft by December 1st. last night, i had a nightmare about word counts (not joking lol). i just know the first day i don't meet the word count i will start beating myself up. not great for creativity!

my story idea is interesting enough that i don't think i need to add unnecessary pressure to write it and it's complex enough that i'm not sure a month is sufficient to actually finish a draft. oh well

as a many times nanowrimo winner, i think this is a totally valid choice. nanowrimo is, in many ways, self-inflicted crunch. it's ok to decide that's not for you. there's a reason i stopped.

it's a bit of a bummer bc i like the Idea of the challenge but i'm depressed enough already, i don't need to introduce crunch into my life hehe
