the Arizona Diamondbacks mascot isn't a snake. it's a bobcat. and the reason it's a bobcat... is because their stadium was originally called Bank One Ball Park. which fans referred to as "The BOB". their mascot is an oblique reference to a bank that hasn't been a sponsor since 2005. deeply unserious franchise
