was trying to burn Mikey and Nicky (1976, dir. Elaine May) to a DVD but accidentally made a data disc instead because im silly. so i just put it in a paper sleeve and chucked it in the little free library near my house. a free mp4 of a classic of cinema for anyone in the neighborhood who wants it

oh also how come it's so hard to find DVD authoring software that will let you make a decent menu for your disc. iDVD being discontinued has haunted me for 12 years now. final cut pro is no help anymore either

fun fact: the DVD standard includes support for a tiny bytecode VM that can control playback, making it possible, in principle, to make absurdly complex minigames and puzzles within DVD menus. From time to time I consider building an authoring tool to make it "easy" to build games in DVD form, but many aspects of such a project would be daunting.
