hello (at) nickyflowers.com

i can't imagine taking days of my finite time meticulously going through a website/online community i don't like to make huge documents of all the posts i think are proof of how bad the website/community is. calling it fucking "case studies" when it's just huge walls of links and snarky bits of commentary. i have so much other shit i could be doing. i could make and eat a big sandwich. i could talk to my friends about my big sandwich

in reply to @nicky's post:

i'm really not sure what the value is when everyone's timeline is way different (I am guessing this person has #cohost meta saved or something and just looks at that). I wasn't super online the last week but barely saw these posts. The site wasn't exploding with drama because there are way too many people for everyone to be talking about anything. Truly a site where I largely don't even see friends-of-friends posts that often

after looking into this, and seeing like secondary reactions and drama about it I'm just really fucking exhausted. I understand being Mad About Websites, I do. I even understand having to just point at something that makes you mad and venting about it. but like, hanging out in a place you don't like over a long period so you can systematically document what everyone there does is not fucking healthy. Please Move Along and post on the websites you actually like and leave everybody else alone

(for clarity this isn't aimed at the people I've seen critiquing whiteness on the site, a discussion I emphatically think we should make room for and that, if we can have it constructively, will make the site a better place)

thinking about how I used to feel mad every time I went to mastodon, for years. so I stopped going to mastodon, and it literally improved my life. I was literally less mad cause I stopped going to a site that was making me mad all the time. If I was hanging out on mastodon and constantly feeling the need to document what everyone there talked about that probably would result in me being mad constantly, a thing I don't want and that my life is better without
