I was/am bad too but I found choosing an easy starting build and just kinda poking around for an hour really helps. Theres also a mod (I dunno if it still works in the current version) that adds a robot to the starting town Joppa that straight up gives you a simple tutorial
if you need coaching lmk im not like, an expert, but i know the game pretty well (made lots of mods)
