@glotch

well. it's a shame that we meet under such circumstances. i'm always glad to have another compost, but, as you probably already know, with the imminent shutdown of cohost, this is the last compost ever. at least as we know it. i'll share some thoughts at the end of this post, but let's get into the stats first.

the prompt for this final ever compost was party mode. if we have to go out, why not go out with a bang? for eggbug, you know? and everyone went party mode. (even if some, myself included, were really too busy being emotional to stay on the prompt...) every entry was profoundly different, running the gamet of styles and instruments, as is to be expected.

oh and by the way, by everyone, i mean everyone. in total, as of 9 am est on the 16th, compost #6 has received

80 ENTRIES

(77 on time, 3 late)

that is more than the previous record of 45 by an entire compost #5's worth of entries and more!! i guess that's the benefit of going for 48 hours instead of 24. and also the site is shutting down, so that helped too i guess.

anyway, you've got a lot of listening to do. so below the cut are all of the entries of the last compost!

plus 3 late entries:

there's also one entry that i'm considering a bonus since it was released prior to compost, but it was submitted in the tag. if you wanna count it, feel free! but you'll just have to add one to my total entry count.

i guess now's the time for my unsolicited final final thoughts. first off, wow. i figured this would break the compost record, but a ton of people really showed up and gave it their all for this one. this lineup is positively stacked with banger after banger after cry-worthy banger. i can nay come up with a better way to send off an event that (at least for me) feels so important to cohost.

on that note, compost has become really important to me as a cohost institution, even though it hasn't even been a year since the first one. on a site where discoverability can be so difficult at times, it really brought a whole musical community here out of the woodwork and into the spotlight. i've encountered and connected with new people because of this event, both directly and indirectly. it helped me build my musical skills and become more confident in my work, and in myself as a result.

compost, to me, is really an encapsulation of everything cohost stood for. it wasn't a clout race, it wasn't a talent competition, it was just a bunch of people in it for the love of the game. i'm glad to say that i took the time to submit in every single one, even when i probably shouldn't have.

it feels weird to be writing about an occassional niche compo like this but the tears i had to fight back while writing this post means it's probably warranted

thank you very much @hvb for hosting this event.

join the musicians of cohost discord where a lot of composters are, and where we've thrown around the idea of potentially continuing the event in there.

and if i don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight!

Thanks for putting together the list!

One small note: @pc36, @ArtificialAngel and @nicky don't seem to be credited on their entries

One good thing about the OHC format which COMPOST excelled at is getting everyone in, from people who have only just started composing to experienced musicians
