Friendly neighbourhood queer nerd.

Spoilers-free, but, still, beware.

  • having so much of the movie not in English means having subtitles in the theater; yay for accidental accessibility!
  • the One Big Change from the comics feels very natural, and plays nicely into one of the main themes of the movie
  • funeral scenes always hit hard, but they hit doubly so when you know that they're not just mourning the character, but also the actor
  • it's pretty incredible in terms of representation / diversity, especially for a disney-owned hollywood film; and the main cast is almost entirely women!
  • there's a canonical queer relationship!? but it's sadly the "heavily hinted at at several points, but so briefly confirmed at the end that the scene can be edited out if needed" kind. but still
  • the movie is gorgeous: at several points, it slams the breaks, to highlight one particularly well composed shot in slow-motion, and wow; every frame a painting, if you will
  • the DRIP!!! they all look incredible all of the time, and i'm not (just) talking about the hero costumes
  • the main negative point of this movie would be its pacing, IMO: it's almost three hours long, and it feels like it could be edited down a bit without damaging the emotional core
  • and, in the same line of thought, surprisingly... the fight scenes feel very perfunctory? this movie is a character piece about grief (and some other slightly more spoilery themes), and the action is just mandatory for the plot to progress, it feels? very strange for a big budget marvel movie
  • M'Baku is perfect in every way and must be protected at all costs, not that he needs it ^^

That's all i can say without spoilers, but yeah: it's a good movie, go watch it. :)
