Title says it all: I'm looking to migrate from my current mastodon instance (the big "default" mastodon.social), and I think tech.lgbt is the correct choice, but they don't allow open registration at the moment, hence the need for an invite. Thanks in advance y'all!

Couple thoughts about this. I do not have very strong "ideological" feelings about where to migrate in the wake of twitter's downfall; while i have my personal preferences, i'd like to be where everyone else is, which is why i'm creating accounts everywhere (i even have a Hive account as of today...). If mastodon is the big winner, and is where artists and cool people migrate, that's where i'll want to be even if i like cohost better. That's part of the reason why I have originally created my account on mastodon.social: it's where most people would end up being by default, and being a big instance it was likely to meet the criteria highlighted in this thread: big platform means more scrutiny from outside observers means "safer".

But now that they're being defederated (again...) because of their poor moderation practices, i have to make a choice: do i stay where all the non-tech people are going to be, or do i move to another big instance whose size still makes it trustable? In the end, i think i'd like to move to tech.lgbt, which seems like a good compromise? With the hope that either interesting people will migrate off the default instance, or that federation will resume in the future...
