BAD: couch broke1
FINE: not having an ikea within a 3 hour drive means i was forced to buy actually Good Furniture this time
GOOD: got a real nice and comfy couch with a frame that is made out of Actual Wood! bought local! getting delivered this week! you love to see it

  1. the couch moved with us from california and it was already not in great shape then. this is just how things go with ikea furniture.

Few things are as hit or miss as Ikea. I've known people who have moved four times with the same billy bookcase four times and it's fine and people who have replaced one 3 times and not moved once. Why they keep buying it I am unsure. And honestly couches are a furniture nightmare so I am on some level impressed that it didn't spontaneously combust during the move.

when we moved to bc i (probably annoyingly) demanded we toss out like 90% of our furniture bc it was all unstable ikea shit and we've gotten new furniture from stores local and online here and i've never been happier tbh.

like extremely a "if you can afford it" thing i realize that but it's great knowing the couch we got will last us like 40 years if we treat it right because it's one solid fucking thing
