The fact I was hearing these 'owls' during daytime should've told me something was wrong, but eh.
I spotted one of those in my backyard the other day and had to look up its name because it so beautiful! We'd been hearing it for days, and my housemate also thought it was an owl, so you're not alone
near me there are mourning doves, a similar species with similar owl-like sounds, and for the longest time I was convinced there must be some kind of weird urban owl situation
yeah! when I was trying to pinpoint the noises, I stumbled on mourning doves first, but then checked the geography and ended up on the more accurate eurasian collared doves and their distinct call!
