As we prepare to launch Black Ice (it's on Steam!) soon, it's a little scary our main marketing channel might self-destruct by then. Especially since it's being destroyed by the same billionaire our game's volcano dungeon lampoons...

Back in 2017 I started adding a story about how a tech billionaire originally beloved for his contributions to electric vehicles and renewable energy would eventually build a cyberspace volcano trophy case full of memes and gilded billboards of his tweets. It seemed like a good explanation for why there was a giant volcano in cyberspace.
This extremely fictional billionaire (that doesn't resemble anyone you know) produced radical products on a whim, such as an electric hoverbike company. He loathed laws and safety regulations and undermined them at every opportunity. If you want to straddle giant fan blades for transportation, that's freedom (and $$ for him)
He even created a microfinanced hoverbike racing league that streamed races live from the pilots' POV in VR. Who could have predicted the massive PR backlash when a horrific crash was broadcast live in first-person to everyone's headsets? Surely everyone. Of course instead of taking responsibility for his mistakes, the fictional billionaire intensified his efforts to undermine the journalism and regulations which he viewed as personal attacks. Who knows, maybe he even started buying social media companies?
