i've been getting so fed up with patreon... the site barely works and they keep changing the UI......... right now if you open my page, half the time the posts won't load in the correct order (randomly sorts from oldest to newest for me)

there's been whisperings of a tumblr-style nsfw purge too, in which case they might decide some of my posts fit their criteria for removal (i only post sfw there but SAS is still an 18+ game even if there's no nudity). i would say this is pretty unlikely but it's a nonzero chance they'll just delete my page FOR me.

anyway, not sure what to do about this. i was running a ko-fi concurrently years ago, but i didn't really like using it. in any case i'm not gonna leave my patrons in the dust by switching platforms overnight, i just wanted to vent my frustrations while i research alternatives.

i understand that the nsfw purge is currently focused on certain areas of kink, but that's usually the beginning of a slippery slope of "making a platform more acceptable to investors"

i was reading this article this morning and how it talks about creators who weren't posting sexual content at all were just, assumed to be, and had their pages deleted. so i think if you even have a signifier of something taboo you're on the chopping block, which at that point, makes me feel like they can make an argument for pretty much any artist... idk. very annoyed and sad about it.

That's really unfortunate and sad. I really hope patreon doesn't go full ban on nsfw content because I follow so many artists on patreon who support themselves with it. It's just... so sad to see more and more companies sanitize themselves at the cost of literally everyone who made the company financially successful in the first place.

As a suggestion, I know someone who uses SubscribeStar for sfw and nsfw art and seems happy with it. It's basically the same thing as patreon but it explicitly allows nsfw content bc that's what it was made for in the first place, so it's never gonna be nuked for that at least. I haven't used it myself but it seems like the next best option (as someone who doesn't know any other payment websites)
