[hamas launches like, 1 missile into israel. actually they don't launch it, they all have to get together to pick it up and chuck it over the fence]

all serious people: we condemn this terrorist action in the strongest possible terms

[israel retaliates indiscriminately with so many bombs it is like they have cast a fucking AoE. each one has an american flag printed on it]

all serious people: wlel this seems proportionate. those palestinian children attacked first, after all

in reply to @lexyeevee's post:

the pattern every time over the years is hamas manages to hack together like 5 small rockets from spare rocket parts from many different, incompatible countries, iron dome easily shoots them down, and then israel launches much larger missiles but the news also calls them rockets

the air strikes are newer and harder to equate so at... least there's that I guess but it doesn't seem to help

always annoys me how western pain is allowed to be expressed so disproportionately. thing that made this stark for me was the opening of Black Ops: Cold War, where the protagonist extrajudicially kills a bunch of Iranian agents in Amsterdam in the midst of the Iranian Hostage Crisis, and when they're questioning the guy in charge of the Amsterdam cell, the justification they give is "things have changed, Iran took hostages"
