pretty sure here it's a combo of CSS and "eschaton," which refers to a hypothetical ideal world, but I think in this case is being used to refer to a game of the same name in the novel Infinite Jest, where it's a game played on a tennis court where the players represent countries, the court is a world map, and tennis balls are bombs; the game is supposed to just be about lobbing tennis balls at strategically important parts of the map, but it falls apart because the line between what the map is and what it represents becomes blurred. the music video for the song "Calamity Song" by the Decemberists is based on that portion of the novel.

tragically all the Really Good Stuff is either in wacky selectors, wacky @-blocks, or variables, and we can't use any of them :(

i wish we had 1 more primitive, somehow. like give us a single class name that makes something draggable with built-in javascript
