oh btw also! a lot of the software support for low-resource languages is developed by missionary orgs too! Software tools for field linguists for organizing language documentation, but also just essential parts of the open-source font support ecosystem; like the Open Font License, the Graphite rendering system (used e.g. in LibreOffice and Firefox); a bunch of Unicode fonts for less-supported scripts; and some of the most widely used fonts to support the range of symbols in the Latin alphabet needed by linguists, named after the Biblical Greek words for "grace" and "slave"

not even the only Weirdly Christian widely-used open source software that i can think of off the top of my head lol: not specifically linguistic but SQLite somehow makes "Benedictine software", what should be a nonsensical phrase, refer to something real?
