my favorite thing about the pico-8 is how the games themselves are embedded into PNG "cartridges" and that's just really neat. Like, you can put a whole-ass game into a clipboard and, assuming there's no compression shenanigans, just zoop it to someone else in virtually any messaging service and it'll just pop up as a cute cartridge they download.
I like it for the same reason I like -dle games that share the score primarily in the form of something they put in your clipboard. It feels like a glimpse of how the internet ought to work, tbh.
