unfortunately, i've been unable to find the actual "deal with it" gif that the entire thread revolves around!! (that is, not the HD remake at the top of this post!)
could you help me find it, or tell me anything you know about it? more below…
as i remember it, the original gif is a very wide format, like 3:1 or 4:1. the shine on the glasses is white rather than grey. the glasses descend a lot slower, and the text pops up to the upper right of the dog, in the format of most SA smilies. (also, naturally, it's very low-res, and everything's aligned to a common pixel grid.)
apparently this gif was never an actual smiley on the SA forums. i remember it as being called :dogwithit:, but i guess that must be a false memory.
i've tried with A Lot of different search terms in both google and duckduckgo, without turning up anything. not even sites like knowyourmeme have the original gif.
i would love to know anything about it, such as who originally made it or specifics on why/when it was made.

gripe time: i would go on SA myself to look, but i've spent plenty of money there already and last time i used my account i had "forums cancer" from posting in LF. with the alexander litvinenko avatar and all that jazz. i don't know if that's still a 'feature' of the forum software and my account is restricted like it was back then, but as you might expect, that's kinda left a bad taste in my mouth! so i'm choosing not to interact with the somethingawful llc anymore, and i don't plan on giving them more money to get search and archives functionality.
