on sunday i pulled a legacy javascript virtual pet off the OLDEST version of my site on the web archive (december of 2000!) and decided... why not make it run on my website from today

i'm pretty sure the original javascript must have come from the japanese web, but that was 20 years ago.
i only guess this because some unicode characters (which i guess used to be read in html and now need to be specified?) are more common to the japanese sets. but maybe they were just used for building anime emojis and we all copied and pasted them. who knows!
anyway it took a lot of fussing around w legacy unicode to see what would work and show up for this bug and also asking @RainbowCemetery for help a lot bc teen me kept making the bug emote like \(o;;o)/ /(0,,0)\ and legacy javascript has PROBLEMS with this
