or don't, whatever, but this ⬆️ is why

Left: unblocked
Right: blocked

edited to add: you definitely don't always need to stretch to shape/size—mostly what I'm trying to show off here is how much smoother and more elegant the stitches look after blocking!

here's a tutorial on how to block: https://brooklyntweed.com/pages/blocking-101

side note: some things don't need aggressively blocked, but even then, doing the washing and drying will benefit your knits! follow the initial description, and then just gently pat your knits into shape and let them dry on a towel. this will let the stitches even out, and lay flat and neat!

Yeah, so I have this motif in my knitting project... and I did the decreases backwards. I finally just noticed, but it's WAY too late to unknit the whole thing, ya know? so I dropped down and fixed one of the twelve motifs, to see how "bad" it was vs fixed... (left is before, right is after)

It's not a big deal, but am I absolutely gonna fix the other 11? YES! OF COURSE I AM!!

So, I got to the second motif (of 12), and decided it was going to be much more sane to run a safety line, and frog back to the beginning of that Vee of YO's. (Great Choice, Rey!). I did so, I went from row 107, to row 92.

When I went to reset my spot in my pattern tracker, I looked at the chart again, only to notice that I HAD FOLLOWED THE CHART, THE DECREASES SWITCH BETWEEN THE BOTTOM AND TOP OF THE DIAMOND.

...excuse me while I pull my hair out.

Being the rebel I am, I am absolutely reworking it with ssk's, because i like it when my decreases flow nicely, dammit! :P

(to answer the question in my comments on the original post, it's an Indigo Dragonfly Merino/Silk sock-weight blend custom-dyed for me from a sweater-club many a year ago, called "See No Attle, Hear No Attle" which never ceases to make me giggle :D

https://indigodragonfly.ca is Good People, and Good Yarn! Shop with them! :)
