Fallout 4 was a game that really disappointed me when it first came out. I'd just finished shotgunning all of Fallout New Vegas in anticipation of the release, and it was quite an adjustment going from what felt like an RPG with shooter elements to a looter-shooter with RPG and city builder elements.
Over the years, however, I've come to appreciate Fallout 4 for its own merits rather than comparing it to what I enjoyed about the earlier games in the series. I still haven't played the DLC yet, but I plan to remedy that soon.
The main reason I'm excited to return to Fallout now, of all times, is that the Ranged Touch podcast network is about to start their Fallout 4 season of Too Much Future, an incredible video podcast series where Cameron Kunzelman (@ckunzelman) and Michael Lutz (@lutz) play through and critically discuss the Fallout games.
Every Ranged Touch podcast ends up being one of my favorites, covering everything from the academic field of game studies to Homestuck to the works of Stephen King, but Too Much Future holds a special place in my heart as the series that got me into the network in the first place. Highly recommend.
