Caligula Effect 1 is a very strange game. My time with it had some real highs to it, but also some staggeringly low lows. Definitely one of the most interesting games I've ever played, despite the fact that I wouldn't recommend playing it.

Tedious dungeons and some downright offensive writing aside, the biggest reason it's hard to recommend this game is that Caligula Effect 2 is available on Steam (for the same price, even) and that's the better game in every way (and also a standalone story aside from a few references). More on that later.
