I've just been informed of the existence of this thing and i'm reeling

"rackmount DVB MPEG encoder" is typically the most boring possible object; a flat black steel faceplate with POWER and STATUS lights. here, tandberg has given it a 1" thick speckle-plastic faceplate with two enormous icecream scoop bites randomly taken out of the front, and a massive backlit LCD display that shows you a confidence display of the image being received, but bitcrushed to 1bpp

plus you can view it in 3D by changing your viewing angle slightly so you can see the shadow the LCD casts on the backlight panel

"confidence" is the operative word here for sure. You have to be SO confident to design like this, SO sure that you can draw outside the lines. We'll never see it's like again.
