I know a lot of twitter refuges like using private accounts. And like, I totally get it.

But if you are a private account on cohost it is almost impossible for people to find you. Even if your account is private, presumably you want people to interact with you.

Also, if you are a private account and you leave a comment on my post, I cannot see it unless I'm following you. I know that was a thing on Twitter too, but because comments are not posted to the general timeline, a private comment is essentially crumpling up a note and tossing it into the trash.

People are not recommended users to follow. Your posts don't appear on a "for you" page. Your likes aren't public. Your follows aren't public. You can put content warnings on all your posts if you're worried about people not liking your stuff. Most of the reasons to have a private account on twitter are non-issues on cohost.

You must log in to comment.

It's hilarious that I found this post by searching google for how to unlock my account here because I couldn't find the button. Which I was trying to do for this reason. Even a year after your post, Cohost is still very tricky to find people to talk to on. Thanks for the reassurance that unlocking is the way to go.
