I spend my weekend mornings waiting on the couch with clarinet out for 9am to hit then im like alright bitches it's now socially acceptable for me to squeak loudly and im gonna make that everyones problem

I'm able to play the first register normally but the book im following just asked me to "cross the break" ie play in the upper register and oh boy oh wow it's starting over from scratch huh. I was able to get to high E with faint whispy sound and no squeaks, anything past that though is beyond me as of yet haha

IIRC some of the work of the high register is embouchure (mouth shape; my mom's a woodwinds teacher, sue me for knowing the fancy words :P), but also some of it is reed stiffness. If you feel like you A) can get a fair amount of force through your clarinet but B) still can't get your high notes out, might be worth going one step stiffer for your reed.

I actually started playing on a 3 reed because I didn't know what I was doing when I bought them haha. I've got some 2 reeds now but yeah it's interesting how different sounds are easier and harder depending on which one I use
