healthcare bureaucrat in philly, v adhd, orthodox jew, ect ect, im love my wife

someone asked me what I do for a living and writing all of it out was comical. here's all of what I do at work. when I took this job I was like "wow!! 50k per year is amazing" and now I'm just aghast that they would offer so little for so much while giving less than two weeks PTO

"the only other non-clinical staff member is the program manager and we see ~400 patients a year preforming ~120 surgeries a year.

I handle pre-certs (completing and sending to insurance 20-200 pages worth of paperwork, clinical documentation, and supporting documentation to gain authorization from them to proceed with surgery. this is for every surgery and for every patient. typically I have to spend hours on the phone with insurance to even start the process. for every surgery and every patient. am I conveying how much time and emotional energy this takes haha)

I also handle scheduling; for both surgeon's clincal days, for the OR, for pre-OR appointments, ect

I handle all(!!!!) incoming calls. easily the worst part of the job haha. I get like 10-30 calls a day and each one takes 15 minutes on average.

I am in grad school for data science so as a side thing have also taken on the task of maintaining and structuring our database of patients + program metrics, and I am currently building a dashboard to present these figures

I sit at the front desk on clinic days as a receptionist. on these days I cannot do any of the other tasks I have mentioned here. so I have even less time than you would imagine for all of this

I am an ad-hoc care navigator, helping people find resources and supports to ensure they are able to get to the OR.

I also do just literally any other miscellaneous admin task like scanning or paperwork or patient calls or aaaaaaaaa im so tired hahahaha"
