my biggest PSA soap box learned from working in gender affirming surgery is to always always get your OP notes (a record of what exactly was done in the OR) whenever you have surgery.

very few if any surgeons will do revisions or further work without seeing old records, and those records are automatically destroyed after seven years per regulation, and those two things combined means it's very easy to end up in a stressful situation if you're not proactive and didn't get a copy in time lol

ya'd think that medical records would be permeant but actually no they're super liminal and temporary and it's best to be on the safe side and get your own copy

the other soap box I have from working here is to stop smoking. nicotine is not kind to scar healing oof
