cohost not having like, a trending sidebar i can click to find out what the worst ideas for today are means that the "tip of the iceberg" effect on discourse i'm not directly exposed to is even funnier. i assume there is a bottom part of a discourse iceberg, but i don't even know where the iceberg is. i would not know where to find it if i wanted to. i am asleep in my cabin and some people are reporting having seen an iceberg.
We're usually many hours into a massive discourse surge before I'm even aware that there might be discourse instead of just several people making jokes tangentially related to each other.
This has been my experience after leaving Twitter years ago and god it's so nice how easy it is to not know or have to care about petty things.
I've been using a Light Phone* again, so social media is now something I visit once or twice a day instead of an ether I am inescapably trapped in, so discourse is so jarring and funny every time I see a glimpse of it. has the energy of people yelling at one another as they walk past the bus stop you're waiting at
