Just finished The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and it ruled. Highly recommend for anyone that enjoys slice of life stories, books with complex genders and politics sprinkled in, or sci-fi stories that don't revolve around combat prowess or stakes like "the fate of humanity" resting on one person's shoulders.

There's so much to digest and so many cool ideas. Alternatively, I could just keep reading more of the series

I wasnt sure what A Closed and Common Orbit would be like when I started it, but now having finished it, it was fascinating to have it - in what was a completely different story from the first book - explore many of the same themes about somebody's place in the galaxy and the sorts of values that can lead an otherwise disparate group of people to become a found family.

I really enjoyed it, and can't wait to read more from Becky Chambers in the future. She really nails the sort of "low galactic stakes, high personal stakes" space opera vibes I've been looking for lately

I know I've already commented on it but I LOVE that book to pieces. The three follow-up novels are also pretty good but TLWtaSAP is my favorite by a long shot

There's also just a seemingly-effortless BALANCE between all of the crew members' interwoven individual storylines that I'm still in awe of to this day. Just a really exceptional feat of craft

Yeah, picking this book up at the same time that I started listening to a few different Actual Play podcasts about Belonging Outside Belonging games like Going Rogue 2e has me wishing that I could play a TTRPG where the players had this kind of balance in relationship dynamics and scenes and everything. It's incredible.
