A patient I was checking in for a different departent declined an interpreter when I called one, saying that they want practice, they really struggled but we made it work, and now I can hear them going through the English/Spanish Duolingo while waiting for their provider. Idk it was heart warming, it's really scary and hard to speak a second language you're not fluent in so im very like,, hell yeah man that rrules you did great

I know your willingness to work with them meant a lot to them; I've been in similar situations, and I always appreciate when people take the time to work with me, even if it's not the fastest.
