did "to feet and inches" ever work? I keep running into the issue that converters only do decimals and US customary users use these funky combinations I can't remember
oh yeah, google's never done more than single unit conversions as far as I remember, but it did at least know what a centimetre was and converted to just feet or sometimes inches
it sucks how much google has started to suck. forgive the petty list but this is just the stuff that's actively got on my nerves just this week alone
-it struggles to find memes from exact quotes
-it assumes you want to buy whatever you search for
-the 'images, maps, news' tabs changing randomly based on context that it misinterprets constantly
-images are always product photos instead of real humans taking pictures (i find myself searching "holding energy drink" to try and find size comparison things)
-search results are so SEO'd that it pushes forums and actual discussions to page 15
-if you try too many different search terms in a row (bc the results are garbage) it thinks you're a bot.
since those reddit blackouts highlighting how much i rely on adding reddit to my searches, i've honestly considering switching to one of those paid search engines like kagi bc surely it has to be better than this rubbish
YEP, it's known that google simply pushes whoever pays them the most to the top of the results now, and they tailor those results to you personally so they can leverage as much fat cash as they can out of that advertising money, so you don't even get consistent shitty results
they've also pivoted fully into "AI" (which is clearly not fucking intelligent), presumably to reduce employee costs and so they have plausible deniability if something fucks up again. unfortunately none of the executives got the memo that today's "AI" isn't actually capable of understanding or introspection and just spews out superficially correct-sounding noise
