healthcare bureaucrat in philly, v adhd, orthodox jew, ect ect, im love my wife

I'm only half way through reading Shemot (the parsha (portion of Torah) im to give a dvar torah (a like interpretation/lecture given during shabbat services) on) and so far

  • two enslaved women tell a bald faced lie to the unbelievably more powerful Pharo, saving hundreds if not thousands of lives
  • Moses is born, hidden by the river, found, adopted, and raised as a prince
  • Moses fucking kills a man!?
  • he flees Egypt, saves a life, gets married, has a kid
  • sees hashem in a burning bush and wrestles with hashem for seven days arguing that he's not worthy of his assignment
  • hashem is asked what it's name is and it responds with "I am that I am",,

im,,, omg,, I feel like I could give a dvar every year on this parsha for the rest of my life and still have things to say,, aaaaa

Seriously! I'm really snagged by 3:12, Moshe looking this way and that way and upon finding nobody else around he kills an overseer, it's just, such a pivot point and there's a surprising derth of commentary on our biggest prophet killing someone premeditatedly. so much to talk about for that one line alone
