bought a whole chicken for cholent this week! I've never broken down a whole chicken before, its exciting. so so so much cheaper than just buying the meat for this dish already butchered. the cholent is cooking slowly so I won't have to cook during shabbat
and now I have a stock pot with the spine and herbs and celery simmering down into stock
and I have the bits and skin in the cast iron skillet slowly rendering down into schmaltz and gribenes
which I'll use to make a kugel for tonights dinner
