healthcare bureaucrat in philly, v adhd, orthodox jew, ect ect, im love my wife

Endlessly obsessed with the strategy that modern orthodox takes towards melding modern values with traditional practice

Like. For example yes there's a mechitzah (barrier demarcating a "mens" and "women's" section), but it's only a few feet high and the room is styled so every section has equal access to the bimah, and there's a non-binary section, and when I showed up as a visibly trans woman a few years ago I was ushered over to the women's section without question, but it still is gender segregation.

Idk! it's so compelling! It's an interesting tension

Anyways, with everyone I know leaving the shul I go to I think this weekend I'm actually gonna try going back to this modern orthodox shul. I imagine I will just end up feeling more alienated and excluded than before but hey let's give it a shot
