healthcare bureaucrat in philly, v adhd, orthodox jew, ect ect, im love my wife

Another podcast I like also put out an episode recently with the host trying to figure out if they're autistic, with the extremely relatability line of "am I autistic or just Jewish" lmao. like yeah, Jewish, especially orthodox, norms and culture are Extremely autistic coded at times. Now, is that why I feel I might be autistic, or is that the reason why I fit in as well as I do, who's to say

in reply to @numberonebug's post:

So on one hand it's like IBS or Tay-Sachs, just genuinely seems more prevalent in Ashkenazim

But also, when you think about what our culture values and valorizes it's bookishness, single focus studiousness, bottom up textual analysis, structure and scripts and idk just overall very autistic ways of engaging with interest and passion

And more importantly, our norms are an expectation of brash/direct communication, inquisitiveness, overlapping communication styles, and constant debate, ect ect, it's not unlike the social norms you see in autistic circles

Sorry for a mostly vibes based answer haha but that's what I think the host of that episode was referring to
