I've been going to this new shul for a few weeks now and people have been polite and pleasant, but a bit distant, which has been a bit lonely. I've very felt like on the outside looking in and it's made me second guess joining
but last night I went and like four or five people throughout the night came up and said something along the lines of "I think I've seen you around, have you been here before?" before chit chatting and trying to get to know me
and it's a big like oh! this is what joining a community looks like! you gotta just show up and be in the background often enough for people to realize you're gonna stick around and then people will make an effort to bring you in. it was nice
