So I stopped working in the pharmacy last year and don't know specifics but as far as I can tell it's been like this every year since 2018, if not longer
the way my prescriber explained it, the problem right now is that since early 2023 there have been ongoing shortages of basically every medication used to treat ADHD, because ""too many!!"" (extreme sarcasm between quotes) people got diagnosed when telehealth suddenly became really accessible for a second there, Because Of Reasons, y'know.
vyvanse stayed pretty safe because it's expensive, it didn't have a generic yet, and you really, really have to bully your insurance to get them to cover it. as of a couple of months ago, vyvanse has a generic out for the first time which you would THINK would ease supply issues, but. there is a shortage of it. lol. and on top of that insurers are going "buhhhhh you have to try generic first" and apparently sometimes acting like Lisdexamfetamine isn't generic sometimes, and it's just... this whole clusterfuck of supply chain issues, "but nyeh" and "but NUuuuUuuH" between the DEA and drug manufacturers, re: who is responsible for the shortages, insurance being a useless gatekeeper to everything as usual, etc. etc. etc.
long story short he said "yeah sorry, it's basically your turn now." he looked very Tired and Mad. ๐ it has never been this hard for me to access my meds, i've actually been on them since about 2018... it's a nightmare.
