just found out my writeup at https://github.com/nycki93/cassette-modem was off by a factor of 10, and the corrected version is in my favor. So instead of a ballpark of 85 hours to send a half-megabyte file at 300 baud, it should have been a ballpark of 8.5 hours. This means that my target 'best case scenario' time drops from 3 hours down to 23 minutes. Always a pleasant surprise to find you were over-estimating the difficulty of a problem.
