if you ever needed to torture me for any reason the easiest way is to force me to watch woodworking videos made by amateurs masquerading as professionals

i've noticed that as the video production quality goes up, the craftsmanship goes down. there are rare exceptions to this but generally if something's filmed beautifully, perfect lighting, slick edits, the actual work they're doing in the video is like, making the world's most fragile chair out of plywood and biscuits

the other end of this, by the way, is matthias wandel, who has produced the same quality of video for the past 15 years (only going so far as to upgrade his camera) but produces masterwork quality furniture every time
