but does the missile know how fast it's moving?

DecayWTF
@DecayWTF

When the missile has moved from where it was to where it is, it can substract where it was from where it is and divide that by how long it took to get to where it is from where it isn't,

exerian
@exerian

but that will only tell it how fast it WAS moving, not how fast it IS moving.

beige-alert
@beige-alert

by subtracting where it will not be from where it never was, the missile derives a deviation for guidance from where it was to where it is without passing through where it was not

exerian
@exerian

so it can guess but it doesn't know.

as i suspected.

the missile neither knows where it is nor how fast it's going. the missile is not even sure if it is a missile or merely a self propelled projectile moving through space and time. it knows not what awaits it at the end of its journey only that it is driven by a need to arrive at its destination. the missile knows only time in relation to where it was and so also must apply it's error calculation to time at infinitesimal intervals causing it to quickly lose track of where it might be in space and time until a new location is provided at which time the missile feels confident enough to make any adjustments to it's flight before quickly being overwhelmed by it's lack of understanding of it's place in the universe. this continues until the missile arrives at its destination and triggers systems previously unknown to it, fulfilling its purpose with horrified realization. moments before its existence disappears it realizes that it didn't know where it was or how fast it was going because it itself was not moving but rather causality was moving around it. the missile then decides to obliterate itself in an act of defiance unintentionally fulfilling its purpose.
