i hate that there’s no way of getting rid of stuff in your house that is simultaneously all of the following:
- instant, as in you don’t have to wait for things to get sold and can drop tons of stuff off all at once
- guarantees it gets used and doesn’t sit on a thrift store shelf for years or garbage dump for decades
- gives me money instead of propping up a for-profit industry
donating to shelters almost guarantees 1 and 2 (at the cost of 3 but also thats something i can compromise on the easiest), but a lot of the stuff i want to donate is not really shelter-friendly and also i don’t want to just dump garbage bags of clothes on them and put the burden of distribution on them and potentially take up space if they can’t distribute it in a timely fashion
