im sure sarah zedig1 is cool and has smart things to say, but when i see people call her (or insinuate she is) a radical transfeminist youtuber, its very funny to me, bc my first exposure to her was her arguing that the adventure zone: balance was a communist (or at least anti-capitalist) masterpiece. like i loved taz:b at the time too but i think that claiming the mcelroy brothers are secretly radical socialists bc of their dnd radio play is a bit much. to be fair to her though that was like 5 years ago so i’m sure she’s changed in that time and also she couldnt have predicted how the brothers would have changed in that time, its just very funny that my first impression of her that coloured how i see her work is so different from how other people talk about her

  1. not sarah z, but i feel similarly about her, especially about her mcelroy- and homestuck-related videos bc she never actually like… came to any novel conclusions about those media properties. i’d heard everything she said before elsewhere lmao

tech anxiety is FUN i LOVE hovering over the "update now" button on my laptop unable to click it bc i keep worrying about bricking a perfectly servicable 2020 macbook air by updating it from macos 12 to 14. ive backed this shit up so worst case scenario i just. idk. get a new laptop (which IS expensive but im employed rn so i can afford it) and restore from my external backup if my laptop just completely dies from the strain of updating. i updated from el capitan to catalina without a problem. and then from catalina to monterey. its fine

ok literally 1 minute after posting this i remembered what a friend had told me when i was 1 click away from coming out to my irl friends, which was “if you’re agonizing over something that you’re literally one click away from doing then you’ve probably picked up enough clues to tell you that it’s safe”, so i clicked “upgrade now”, mashed through all the confirmations, and left the room. it’s in steve jobs’ hands now
