I recently finished S-ranking all of the missions in Armored Core VI. I had planned to do another "trip report" summary post, like I did with my Elden Ring level 1 playthrough, summarizing the most interesting builds I used throughout the process. However, I realized that describing the workings of just one build was already enough to be its own post -- especially if I'm explaining it to my friends, a crowd that mostly hasn't played much AC6 yet (at least I hope it's just yet!).

Moreover, there's one particular build I want to write about far more than any other. It's got something fairly unique going on, it's one of my only builds that can't be simply boiled down to "put good weapons on a good mech." In fact, it consists entirely of niche weapons I never bothered to used in my main playthrough. Is it any good? It won't win any awards, but it did S-rank a few missions, and building it was a fun thought exercise. Meet the Pulsefire PT.

Be warned, this post is a bit long.

I knew since even before the game came out that I'd want to do a rune level 1 playthrough of the game. My level 1 playthrough of Dark Souls 3 was one of the most demanding, but satisfying things I've ever done in any of these games, and Elden Ring's open-endedness offers even more flexibility than DS3 did. I was going to hold off with this playthrough until after finishing my current (third) one, but I decided to pull the trigger early and start it already.
