I’ve decided to make the repo for Aviary public even though it barely does anything yet. I figure there’s no real harm so if you want to follow along the repo is at https://codeberg.org/kelly/aviary

I’ve decided to go all in on the bird theme for analytics so I’m calling the whole pipeline Aviary which will be made of a few parts:

• Finch, the inbound API
• Pigeon, the service that aggregates the events from Finch into a database
• Hawk, the web interface for querying the analytics database

This theme makes me happy. Planning on making the repo public soonish even though I only have Finch working (and even then only mostly).

I want to see just how far I can get with the simplest little server to receive and store events. Then another little service to scoop those up into SQLite for querying via some kind of nice web interface.

I’m calling it Finch. Let’s go.
