I love semi-serialized stories but one of the coolest things is when a story starts off as mostly episodic but the elements of the greater plot are there the entire time and you only realize once they come into the foreground. Like I'm re-reading Dungeon Meshi and seeing the winged lion imagery everywhere in the dungeon and how the Living Painting chapter is essentially all Thistle backstory before you even know he exists
