Group behind Emmys defends nomination of Palestinian journalist Bisan Owda | Al Jazeera Newsfeed
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has defended its nomination of AJ+ contributor Bisan Owda for an Emmy after a pro-Israeli non-profit asked them to rescind it. The nomination is for the documentary, ‘It’s Bisan from Gaza and I’m Still Alive.’
The people responsible for this were surely thinking "Well, we can't figure out a way to tie this journalist to Hamas, so we'll just find another way to justify assassinating her." Every Gazan is a terrorist to these people.
What infuriates me most about this is the blurring of the Palestinian civillain population with the military, which has repeatedly been used to try to justify Israel's genocidal attacks. I'm sure Bisan can live without an Emmy, and her nomination was not rescinded. But there's more than an award on the line. Everyone involved with this is putting her life in danger.
