She's here for surgery. I forgot to snap a pic with her in the car, but here I am in the exam room while I wait for the doctor to come talk to me post-intake.
Lucy is all set. She'll be in surgery shortly (early on the schedule) and stay overnight. I pick her back up tomorrow.
Stanley wonders where she's gone.
She's out of surgery and things sound like they went as planned without complications. The doctor mentioned "low blood pressure during the procedure," but also that this is not uncommon for older cats like Lucy.
She's in the ICU on IV pain meds, recovering. I will expect a call from the doctor tomorrow morning to assess how she's recovering and pickup logistics.
I keep thinking I see Lucy out of the corner of my eye, walking around in the apartment
Can't wait to bring her home tomorrow. I miss her so much.
So it turns out she has a lot of trouble eating her regular meals from her regular dishes while wearing the cone. Since her meds all need to be given with food, I'm finding the most reliable way to handle this is to feed her greenies from the palm of my hand.
I need to get a big container of greenies. I don't normally dispense so many so often.
I also shopped around online and found a "low profile litter box for elderly cats, frail cats, sick cats." This is a keyword-ripe segment for products, apparently. I expect this to arrive on Friday. We'll have to make do until then.
She's spending a lot of time walking to some spot in the apartment and zoning out entirely. She'll sit, like an idle pose for a video game character, and just stare into the middle distance. Again, I'm pretty sure this is just the pain killers. I guess this is okay.
I know that Lucy must be feeling better overall because suddenly she's not just letting me give her meds. She's Squirmy Now.
Sutures should be coming out next Friday when she goes back in for a recheck.
Lucy has graduated. No more meds. No more cone. She is going to be "back to normal" lifestyle as soon as we get home. Doc said her incision has healed nicely.
The next few days will be nothing but her smushing the left side of her face on whatever she can.
It can't be because she's hungry (she just ate), or I'm stopping her pain meds (her next dose would not have been for several more hours). She's just hootin' and hollerin'.
Does she miss wearing the cone??
